The Ultimate Lake Day Packing Guide: What to Bring?
Our curated list of must-haves for a day on the water. From keeping your drinks cold to keeping the music going, these essentials ensure a stress-free trip on the Big Lake.
The Ultimate Lake Day Packing Guide: What to Bring on Your Private Charter
So, you’ve booked your 2026 private charter with Cardinal Charters—now what? Whether you’re heading out for a high-energy bachelor party, a family sandbar day, or a relaxing sunset cruise, being prepared ensures you spend your time enjoying the views of Lake Winnipesaukee instead of wishing you’d packed a sweatshirt.
Here is our "Captain-Approved" checklist for the perfect day on the water.
1. The "Sun & Surf" Essentials
The sun hits differently when it’s reflecting off the lake. To keep everyone comfortable, we recommend:
Sunscreen (Lotion preferred): We love a good tan, but we love a clean boat more! Pro-tip: Please try to use lotion instead of spray sunscreen while onboard, as the spray can make the deck slippery and stain the upholstery.
Towels: Even if you don't plan on swimming at the sandbar, a towel is great for drying off after a splash or extra padding on a seat.
Polarized Sunglasses: Not only do they look cool, but they help you see through the glare of the water to spot the beautiful rocky bottom of the lake.
2. Food & Refreshments
Every Cardinal Charter is BYOB-friendly.
Coolers & Ice: Feel free to bring your own, or select our "Cooler with Ice" add-on during booking so your drinks are cold the moment you step onto the Weirs Beach docks.
Snacks: Think "hand-held." Grapes, sliders, chips, and charcuterie boards are perfect for a moving boat.
Hydration: For every "adult beverage," try to pack a bottle of water. Staying hydrated is the secret to a long-lasting lake day!
3. Layers & "Lake Time" Attire
Even on a hot July day, the breeze on the open water can feel 10 degrees cooler once the boat is at cruising speed.
A Light Jacket or Hoodie: Especially important for our Sunset Cruises. Once the sun dips behind the mountains, the temperature drops quickly.
Proper Footwear: Flip-flops or boat shoes are perfect. We ask that you avoid black-soled shoes that might scuff the brand-new 2026 luxury deck.
4. Entertainment & Tech
Your Best Playlist: Our luxury tritoon features a premium Bluetooth sound system. You are the DJ for the day, so have your favorite tracks ready to go!
Waterproof Phone Case: For those must-have TikToks and photos of Governors Island or the Witches, a waterproof pouch is a lifesaver.
